MONKEY TINY HOUSE WILDLIFE
Wildlife You Can Spot from Your Terrace

Howler monkey
These black monkeys travel in large family groups and move from tree to tree. You can see them almost daily, depending on the season. Extremely loud, they mark their territory with deep, powerful calls. They are not shy, but they stay in the trees—observe them, but do not attempt to feed them!

Capuchin monkey
Much more timid, these clever little monkeys live in the area but are rarely seen. If you wish to spot them, remain quiet on your terrace and stay alert.

Night Monkeys
These nocturnal primates only come out after dark and live in pairs. If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of their glowing eyes in the night.

Sloth
With a bit of patience, you might spot these slow and peaceful creatures while exploring the property. Look up into the trees—they blend in perfectly with their surroundings!

Anteater
Some lucky visitors have spotted this elusive creature. It is extremely shy, so you'll need to be very discreet to catch a glimpse of one.

Armadillo
Cousins of armadillos and sloths, anteaters are among the oldest mammals on the planet.

Poison Dart Frog
Beautiful but toxic only if their poison enters the bloodstream. Do not touch them, as they can catch harmful microbes from us, which could be fatal to them

Tree Frog
They often lay their eggs under the leaves near the pool. If you spot one, please let us know! We relocate them to ensure they hatch in chemical-free water, helping to preserve the species.

These arboreal snakes hunt squirrels and other small rodents. Look up into the trees, and you might spot one in action!

Vine Snake
Completely harmless, this long, thin snake blends perfectly into tree branches. It is often seen high in the canopy.

These large birds build hanging nests under tree branches. Males construct the nests, and females choose their mate based on its quality.

Hummingbird
These tiny, colorful birds are mostly seen at dawn, drinking the morning dew from nearby flowers.

Vultures
Highly common in Panama, these birds play a vital role in the ecosystem, keeping the jungle clean by consuming carcasses and organic waste.

Toucan
Easily recognizable by its colorful beak, the toucan is often seen near the terraces, drawn to our papaya trees! Its distinctive call makes it easy to identify before you even spot it.

Green Amazon Parrot
These loud, lively parrots arrive in pairs and return twice a year to breed on the property. When they come, they create an impressive chorus of calls!

Squirrel
Quick and curious, these little acrobats move swiftly from tree to tree. You’ll often spot them from your terrace, jumping between branches.

Opossum
A nocturnal mammal, it stays hidden during the day but may sometimes be spotted at night, rummaging through the vegetation.

Agouti (Nieke)
A very shy rodent, often spotted darting across paths. If you're quiet, you might just see one!

Iguana
Common throughout the area, these reptiles love basking in the sun on tree trunks and rocks. Keep an eye out while exploring!

Morpho Butterfly
One of the most iconic butterflies, with its vibrant blue wings. Many other colorful species live here—take a walk and see what you can find!

Alligator
You can see them in the lake at the entrance of the property. They are often drawn to fish scraps and chicken bones. If you wish to feed them..

Scorpion
Found in the jungle, they may occasionally wander into a cabin despite our pest control measures. No worries! Their sting is not lethal and feels similar to a wasp sting. They are also very timid and prefer to escape rather than attack.
